Don't forget to remove personal information from photos before uploading or posting online

Do you know that in a photo file might be stored much more info than just the picture itself? Pieces of information like camera maker, model, time, and date the photo was taken, and GPS location ...

But don't worry. To remove all the info and make the picture much more anonymous is easy.

In Windows: right-click on the photo and click on Properties. In the window select the Details tab and at the bottom click on Remove Properties and Personal Information. New Remove Properties windows will open with pre-select options that will remove all possible details.

If you use Mac: there is no built-in support for removing all the personal info. But at least you can remove GPS coordinates (which is probably the most important thing). To do it double-click on your photo to open it in the Preview app. Then click on Tools and select Show Inspector (hit Command + i ). In the new window click the icon at the top, select the GPS tab and at the bottom is Remove location Data button.

How to blur / pixelate your face on a photo?

To be completely anonymous, sometimes you don't want to show your face on photos. You can either use an image editor or an online tool.

How to securely delete an image?

If you simply delete (put in trash) an image (or any other file), it'll not be enough. Even if you empty the trash bin, the file will be still recoverable. To make it completely deleted you will have to rewrite it several times, preferably with random data. It sounds very complicated, but there are free tools, that will help you with it.
